Learning it isn't practising it
Something I said in Practice Club last night: when you're learning something, that's not practice, that's learning. Practice is repetitive. Getting a line right once is only the start. We repeat it in a methodical, boring way because we want to fall into it by mistake when we improvise.
That boring bit is the bit most of us skip on our own, and it's what Practice Club is for. It's where we might take one line and repeat it together, live, on a Monday at 6pm UK. Come and join us: https://www.skool.com/jazzviolin/plans
How many times do you repeat a line before you move on?
