Update from Drew
Hi everyone,
It just so happens that I got back to Helsinki and received a private email from Denny letting me know what's been happening here. I wanted to reach out and update you all. It was never my intention to stay away this long. There are a few things I'd like to share.
1. Work and family. I've been traveling like crazy with my new job. I've really changed careers, and I've been pouring my heart and soul into it. It's been incredibly intense: working nearly 24 hours a day, living on the road with groups of people, and attending to all their needs. I've tried to be as present and mindful as I possibly can, to help deliver wonderful experiences as we travel through Europe. I've also been given more trips than I expected, one right after another, with no time to breathe. Very soon I'll be heading through Central Europe with another group.
Work has consumed me, and in the moments I have been home, I've had to focus entirely on my family. Being home so little is hard on my wife and especially on my 8-year-old, who is not loving all my time away. I'm not sure yet where I can fit everything in.
2. Screens and social media. I've been reconsidering my screen time, and my social media consumption and output. I feel social media is a big part of our problems these days, and I'm asking myself whether I'm contributing to that. Am I bringing people to screens, when what I'm really trying to tell people is to get away from screens and off their devices?
3. Why I'm doing this. I created this community, and I never wanted it to be about me. I wanted it to thrive through all of you, with each other, without me as the focal point. So I find myself asking: am I doing these things for my own ego? Is it to get a pat on the back? Am I being truly authentic, and is this being done for the right reasons? Like anything, I'm trying to go deeper and find joy and bliss in everything, while making sure I'm truly practicing what I preach. All this time traveling, and staying away from screens, has given me some impactful moments of asking the big questions: my purpose, and connecting to something grander. But ultimately, I haven't come up with all of the answers, YET;)
These are unanswered questions I'm asking myself, and they're not for anyone else to answer. I'll come to them in time.
Through all of this, I'm happy, I'm healthy, and I'm moving constantly. This work has reminded me why daily movement is so important.
I'll keep the Skool community going, but I can't commit to any time frame right now. I'm just away too much. Hopefully I can find the right balance soon.
In the meantime, find ways to move and get out. Walking is a superpower. Do your household chores vigorously. Carry your groceries home. Find movement in everyday activities. I'll do my best to get back when possible.
I hope you're all continuing to move and love lots. I really want the best for everybody here.
