Indeed, falsehood is ever bound to vanish.” (Qur’an 17:81) "Regarding the phrase “Indeed, falsehood is ever bound to vanish,” it means: this is the very nature of falsehood. It may sometimes appear strong and widespread when it is not confronted by truth; however, when truth arrives, falsehood collapses and disappears, leaving no movement or effect behind. Falsehood only spreads in times and places that are empty of knowledge of Allah’s signs and clear evidences." — Tafsīr al-Saʿdī "The use of the verb “kāna” (was/is) indicates that vanishing is an inherent trait of falsehood—its constant characteristic in every age is that it appears for a time and then fades away." — Ibn ʿĀshūr
