This is why I quit CrossFit.
I started CrossFit in college because I missed the physical and mental challenges I had in high school sports. But over time it started breaking me down and I didn’t even notice it happening.
Turns out, training isn’t about constantly driving yourself into the ground. It’s about giving your body a stress stimulus and then enough recovery to actually adapt and get stronger from it.
When I stopped heaping 5-6 days of high intensity work on my body and started prioritizing nutrition and real recovery, everything changed. I gained 10lbs of muscle, my blood sugar improved and my energy levels returned for the first time in 15 years.
Getting stronger has a lot less to do with suffering than most women think.
