If there is one thing that my 16 years in business has taught me, it is that adaptation is everything.
After all, I have shown up to do a full day event, and ended up only having 3 hours to speak (at the full price because their changes, not mine).
And I have shown up to do a keynote only to find out the other speakers cancelled, so can I feel in the full day? (Why yes, yes I can. I can access all my seminars on my laptop. What topic would you like me to speak on?)
I have shown up to find out I was speaking in a FIELD rather than a community hall and I have shown up to find out I was speaking to more than 1,000 when I thought it was a group of 30.
And yesterday, when we discussed there was a typo in the ad that had gone out, mistakenly telling people our event was starting at 1 instead of 10, we adapted.
It turned out to be a great event. They all did because it isn't about control. It is about being able to dance in the rain, being able to meet the needs of those that hire you (even when they change) leaving them THRILLED they chose to work with you (while majorly increasing the chances they hire you again).
Just dance, my speaker friends. Just dance.
Love ya!
