When people ask me, ‘what art school did you go to?’ I tell them I didn’t. When I was 17, I was rejected from Cal Arts, the ‘art college of my dreams.’ I’d spent almost a year preparing a portfolio…only to have it being ‘not good enough.’ ( of course, this destroyed me)
This surprises many people, because they assume I was always good at art. But I wasn’t always good. I just loved doing it, and KEPT doing it, whether it was shit or not.
If you truly love something( or someone!) you’ll keep showing up for it. Good days and bad days. If you’re consistent, it will be almost impossible NOT to succeed.
