Super Tip for finding clients using LinkedIn
Hey everyone!
Wanted to drop a quick tip that’s been super helpful for finding new clients, and it’s all about mastering LinkedIn searches.
Most of us are into B2B market providing services. So our audience have some pretty predictable characteristics that we can use to find them out there! I thought that this was a well-known strategy, but speaking with some folks here in Vancouver I realize many of them never heard about it! So I hope I can add a bit more of knowledge to leverage your businesses! 🚀
Boolean Search on LinkedIn. Yep, it’s a thing!
Simply put, Boolean search helps you get super specific about who you're looking for by using words like AND, OR, NOT, along with parentheses and quotes. Here's how to use it to find your dream clients:
  • AND narrows your search by combining terms: developer AND "virtual reality" finds profiles with both terms.
  • OR broadens your search to include profiles with either term: marketing OR advertising.
  • NOT excludes terms you don’t want: engineer NOT civil.
  • Use quotes for exact phrases: "graphic designer".
  • Parentheses work like math, grouping terms to control the search: (software OR computer) AND engineer.
Examples:
  • Looking for marketing pros outside the finance sector? Try marketing NOT finance.
  • Need a graphic designer who knows both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator? Search "graphic designer" AND (Photoshop OR Illustrator).
  • Finding tech entrepreneurs in either AI or blockchain? Go for founder AND (AI OR blockchain).
Now combine this with the advanced filtering options and you'll see the magic happening right in front of your eyes.
Why bother? Because it saves time and gets you in front of the right people. No more scrolling through vaguely related profiles!
Start with these tips, tweak as you go, and watch your network fill up with potential clients who actually match what you're looking for.
Extra tip: If you have the technical skills, combine all of that with the technologies your client had integrated on their website and Boom! You have tons of knowledge about the business, what kind of technology they are using. Now you can approach them with much more confidence and information. But this extra tip could be a whole another topic.
Happy hunting! Would love to hear if you try these out or have other cool LinkedIn search hacks.
