Welcome to Hybrid Resistance Training
This is where I’ll be organizing how I actually approach training across different tools, programming, special courses, and building a community of likeminded trainees. Most people get stuck thinking they need one “best” method. For me the goal is to combine not only what works, but also apply it in a way that’s practical and sustainable long term. Inside here I’ll be sharing: - Training ideas and setups - How I use bands, cables, sliding bench trainers, machines, and free weights together - Answers to your questions as they come up - Foster a Community 👉 Feel Free to Introduce yourself below (or on another post) and let me know what equipment you’re currently using (bands, Total Gym/sliding bench, dumbbells, etc.) That’ll help me shape what I share in here moving forward. Community Guidelines • Be respectful and encouraging. • Constructive discussion is always welcome, but personal attacks and negativity are not. • Remember that different training methods can all be effective. Keep an open mind and respect that others may have different goals, preferences, and experiences. • Share your successes, ask questions, and help others whenever you can. To get things started: Questions? Feel free to post your questions in the community. One of the best parts of this group is learning from each other's experiences, and often another member may have already solved the same problem you're facing. I'll jump into discussions and answer questions whenever I can, but I won't always be available or able to respond to every post personally. If you're looking for more individualized guidance, I'll be opening additional one-on-one consultation opportunities in the future. You can also reach me at: 📧 [email protected] The information shared within this community is intended for educational purposes only and reflects my professional opinions and personal experience. Always consult your physician or another qualified healthcare professional before beginning any exercise program.
Just found you and have questions about the TG
Hey Mike! I want to start off by saying I just found out about you and absolutely LOVE your channel! You have some of the best and most thorough explanations of strength training I have ever seen! I was an athlete in high school/college and now as a woman in my early 40s, I’ve been trying to get back into a routine of working out. I have some power block dumbbells, a few resistance bands, and a squat rack with a smith machine and an upper and lower pulley + weight stack now. I’m looking to simplify my workouts since honestly sometimes I don’t know which exercises to do or how to structure a routine and have been considering a total gym purely because of your channel. I have found several used units locally to choose from. My problem is I’m trying to decide if I need to spring for one that has the weight bar capability or not? There is a barely used Apex 3 with all attachments but the ab crunch for $150, and then there is also an XL7 with all the available attachments for $100. I know the Apex accepts the weight bar but I don’t think the XL7 does? I’m having trouble finding much info on that unit so any additional you can provide would be great! My goals for working out are to gain flexibility/improve mobility (I said earlier I was a lifelong athlete and I have the knees to prove it! Lol), lose some weight/tone up, and also gain some strength and muscle but not “bulk up” per se. How do I figure out if the ability to add the weight bar should be a deal breaker and decide between the 2 machines? I know we’d use the ab crunch so that is a capability I want, but it sounds like in most of your videos you really recommend the XLS or Fit over smaller units. There is a fit near me as well, but it’s $300 and doesn’t include the extra attachments. I’m not sure I want to jump in that deep having never tried this kind of machine. I remember seeing the infomercials as a kid and thinking it would be cool if my dad bought one, but my parents couldn’t afford the price point of the original.
"The Art of Sliding Bench Course" now live
Just released the course and also will be starting to invite others in, so hopefully this space grows a bit. I mentioned this in the course videos, but I'm sure I will also update these in the future with more content and or to improve the content that's there. Always open to your feedback. Let me know what's the next course you'd want to see here as well. Hope you all are enjoying your 4th of July Weekend.

Ordered the up dated MOMO glide board last night. I hope that they strengthen it more like they said they did. @Mike D did they ever send you the kit to update yours. And hey what did you use to elevate the front of the total gym?

Hello
First time ever trying something like this. Have a TG and resistance bands. Watched your videos about TG. Not sure where to start honestly.
