Welcome to HNDC
Welcome. I'm glad you're here. Quick note on what this space is, and isn't. This isn't a place to compare symptoms or confirm that what you're dealing with is unfixable. It's a place to do the work of changing it. Here's the short version of what HND means: a lot of what people get stuck with, tight muscles, pain that won't quit, sleep that won't settle, movement they're afraid to do, isn't permanent damage. It's a pattern your nervous system learned and is still running, even after the original cause is gone. I know that because I lived it after a car accident left me structurally stable and still in real pain for a year and a half. I retrained the pattern. It changed. Three things that will help you get the most out of this community: Post questions. This group only works if you use it. Look for people further along than you. Their posts are proof this works. If you're only here to be told nothing can change, this will feel uncomfortable. Stay anyway. Start by introducing yourself below: what are you working to get back to?
Do this Today
Before August starts, write down one thing you want to be able to do that you are not doing right now. Not a resolution. Not a strategy. Just the one thing that matters most.

Quick one for anyone dealing with low back pain that keeps coming back.
There are three mistakes I see almost every time. Waiting too long after the first episode. Doing nothing between flares once the pain settles down. Expecting it to heal in a week or two. Here is the part that matters. The first episode is the window. Your nervous system starts learning the pattern right then, not just your tissue healing or not healing. The time between flares is where the real work happens. That quiet stretch where you feel fine is exactly when you should be retraining the system, not ignoring it. And the timeline matters too. A structural injury can heal in weeks. A nervous system pattern reinforced over years does not follow that same clock. Expecting it to should not be the reason people quit right before it starts working. If this sounds familiar, this is exactly what we work on inside the 8-Week Healing Journey.

The Work You're Doing Doesn't Need to Be Visible to Count
There is a version of progress nobody talks about because it does not look like anything from the outside. You did not sleep perfectly but you slept better than last week. You still felt the signal but you did not give it the wheel. You caught yourself bracing and you softened before it compounded. You went to bed without running the same loop for two hours. Nobody saw any of that. Nobody gave you credit for it. It did not show up on a test or a scan or anything someone else could measure. But it counted. Nervous system retraining happens mostly in the invisible moments. The pause before the reaction. The breath that interrupted the pattern. The choice to keep moving when everything in you wanted to stop. Those are not small things dressed up as big ones. They are the actual mechanism. The visible results people eventually see are just what happens after enough invisible work has stacked up. You do not need to be able to show your progress to someone else for it to be real. The work you are doing counts. Even the parts nobody can see.
