Healing and growth
Healing and learning to love yourself after a toxic relationship is a true test of character. The mental and emotional toll my last relationship left on me was a lot, add uprooting my life, moving away from the life I’d built with a 2 year old daughter and I was practically a shadow of myself. In the dark days you think it will never improve, that there’s no light at the end of the tunnel but there is.
I began to open up slowly, building new friendships, setting goals, finding new healthier hobbies and habits. I refound my purpose; not as someone who needed to be in a relationship to have value or worth, but as someone who was strong and independent enough to do things for herself. Someone who wanted to be able to say I did that, I achieved that. Someone for my daughter to look up to when she’s older and realise her worth isn’t measured by others but how she feels about herself.
For anyone going through something similar, whether it’s a breakup, a big change, an identity crisis remember to be kind to yourself. Trust in your mind and body, it knows what to do. There will be good and bad days, but the good days will become more frequent if you give yourself the space to heal. ❤️
