accusations from persons of respect
My two Take-aways from David and Goliath:
1. When David decided to act in faith and fight Goliath, he did not get any encouragement. Instead, he was confronted with 3 heavy accusations, even from his elder brother Eliab, who was a person of respect to him (1. Sam. 17;28):
- Unfaithfulness with the sheep, the economic basis of the family.
- Presumption in believing, he can make the difference.
- Evil Heart, wanting to see the cruelty of the battle.
David simply turned his back on him and continued to ask the same question, making known his intention. This takes inner strength.
2. When David stepped forward, he first secured his own rights. He asked the people to repeat the promise of Saul. Selfish? No. Know your value and stand for it. Don’t be rubbed by others.
