Today, I was surrounded by a strange sense of boredom.
It was one of those rare days off, yet by the end of it, I felt like I hadn’t really done anything at all.
After finishing my workout in the morning, I planned to go for a bike ride. Unfortunately, not long after I left, it started raining. Since cycling was no longer an option, I found a coffee shop, settled in with a book, and spent most of the afternoon there until it was time to head home.
Objectively, it wasn’t a bad day. I exercised, spent time reading, and enjoyed a quiet afternoon.
But for some reason, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I should have done something more.
Maybe that’s the downside of staying busy all the time. When a rare day of free time arrives, it’s easy to feel guilty for not being productive enough, even when you’re already doing things that are good for you.
The strange thing is that rest itself is doing something.
Reading a book in a coffee shop on a rainy afternoon doesn’t sound very exciting, but perhaps that’s exactly what I needed today.
Even so, that lingering feeling of wanting to do something, yet not knowing what stayed with me all day.
🤒
Good night.
