How I plan to approach each members life cycle within this group. 1. Initial rapport and understanding. When a new member joins this group, i'd like to chat with them and get to know them, and most importantly learn their goals and reason for joining this group. Reasons can vary from; wanting to learn how to retain guard better, wanting to emulate my style of passing, gaining an edge in competition, feeling the general need to get over a plateau, or even wanting to become a better coach. They may also just be searching for general direction, with no actual idea of which direction to go. 2. Video reviews. I'd like to review optional two 2 minute videos a week for my members. They can be rolling or competition footage. They can also outline which specific problem in the video they need addressing. On top of this if they need questioned answered about jiu jitsu, competition, etc. I want them to have that access to me via messaging. Through this method, I want my online students to have specifically curated plans sorted out for each of them. Each week, we should come closer to a determined goal, defined by our initial conversation, or any issues that come up through their efforts of improvement. 3. Conceptual understanding. Beyond the individually curated programs, I want all my online students to have a strong understanding of concepts within the sport. This being said, being overwhelmed with concepts is useless when they aren't supplemented at the right time. Depending on each students learning program, and main funnels of learning, I want them to focus firmly on the conceptual side of what theyre working on. Think of concepts like the stump of a tree, and the incremental improvements and adjustments as the branches and ornaments that make that individual tree unique. 4. Online classroom and forums. As I build the online school, I will be adding many forums discussing various topics that come up which i feel should be shared onto the page. The online classroom will be lessons specific to particular pathways in jiu jitsu progression, how to improve, technique selection, and competition improvement.
Sebastian Attard - My method of going from dookie to world class
My goal for this group goes beyond the classic approach of techniques, useless disjointed training plans, and culty instruction. In my 8 years of training, I spent the first 5-6 years failing to understand or discover how to truly train to improve, both physically and mentally. Once I was able to bridge the gap, my progress sky rocketed. I went from losing local competitions, to beating world champions, in what some could consider overnight. In this group I want to organize both broad methods in my approach to making this change, and also tailor personal training lessons for each member here.
