Welcome to Grace and Grounding 🌿
I’m glad you’re here. This community is a place to learn practical skills, reflect on Scripture, and take small steps toward healing. What is DBT? Dialectical behavior therapy, or DBT, teaches skills for noticing what is happening within us, getting through difficult moments, understanding emotions, and caring for our relationships. Here, we’ll practice those skills alongside our Christian faith. You don’t have to feel calm or have the right words to begin. This week’s grounding practice: Box breathing When your thoughts feel busy, try giving your attention to one gentle cycle of breath: 1. Breathe in for 4 counts. 2. Pause for 4 counts. 3. Breathe out for 4 counts. 4. Pause for 4 counts. Imagine tracing one side of a square with each step. Try two or three rounds, then notice your feet on the floor and the space around you. You can shorten the count or skip the pauses if that feels better. If you feel dizzy or uncomfortable, stop and breathe normally. This is a simple grounding practice to help you return your attention to the present. There is no need to do it perfectly. A moment with Scripture Genesis 2:7 tells us that God breathed into humanity “the breath of life.” Before we accomplished anything, life was a gift from Him. As you breathe today, let that truth meet you where you are. You do not have to earn this moment of rest. You can pause, notice that you are here, and bring what you are carrying to God—one breath at a time. A short prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of life. Meet me in this moment. Help me slow down, notice what I need, and take my next step with You. Amen. If you’d like to introduce yourself, share your name and one word for how you hope to feel in this community. You’re welcome to participate quietly, too. 🤍
