🪞 The Counterfeit Self

Most people don’t realize this…

but there are two versions of you trying to run your life.

One is your God-shaped personality — the you He designed, crafted, prepared, and empowered.

The other is your self-shaped individuality — the version of you that tries to run life without God… the one built on self-protection, pride, fear, or the need to control everything.

Oswald Chambers said it like a hammer:

“Individuality counterfeits personality as lust counterfeits love.”

Let that hit for a second.

A counterfeit looks close to the real thing…

but it empties you instead of completing you.

Lust isn’t love.

Control isn’t leadership.

Noise isn’t clarity.

And a self-made identity isn’t the same as the identity God wrote in Ephesians 2:10.

God designed your nature for Him, not for you to power it by yourself.

And every time we drift back to “I’ll handle it,” we step out of purpose and into the counterfeit.
