One day, I was in the kitchen with my Canadian mom, very serious, very focused.
Me: “Mom, please don’t touch my sandwich. I made it for later.”
Mom: “Of course, I won’t touch it.”
Very clear. Very direct. Very… confident.
I leave the kitchen like a champion of communication.
I come back.
The sandwich… is gone.
Me: “Mom… where is my sandwich?”
Mom (calmly sipping coffee): “Oh, that? I thought you meant don’t touch it right now.”
Me: “WHAT?! I meant don’t touch it at all!”
Mom: “Well… you didn’t say forever.”
At that moment, I felt something deep in my soul say:“Bonkers… complete bonkers.” 😆
I go sit quietly and say:“Jesus… did I not speak clearly?”
And I imagine Jesus smiling at me gently.
Jesus: “You did. But not everyone hears with the same ears.”
Me: “So what do I do? Write a contract next time?!”
Jesus (laughing softly):“Or… you can try a parable.”
Next day…
Mom walks into the kitchen.
Me (very wise tone):“Mom… there was once a sandwich. It was prepared with love. And the one who made it went away, trusting it would remain… untouched.”
Mom pauses… looks at me… looks at the sandwich…
Mom: “So… I shouldn’t eat it?”
Me: “He who has ears… let him hear.” 😌
Mom: “I hear very clearly now.” 😂
Later I sit with Jesus again.
Me: “It worked!”
Jesus: “Sometimes truth lands better when it invites the heart, not just the ears.”
Me: “But honestly… sometimes I still want to say it straight!”
Jesus: “And that’s okay too. Just don’t lose your peace when others don’t receive it.”
Me: “So… less stress… more wisdom?”
Jesus: “Exactly. And maybe… hide the sandwich next time.” 😄

Prayer 🙏🏽Jesus,Teach me when to speak clearly and when to speak gently through stories.Help me not lose my peace when I am misunderstood.Give me patience, wisdom, and maybe a better hiding place for my sandwich. 😄Let my words carry love, not frustration.Amen. Lesson 💡Not every message is missed because it’s unclear—sometimes hearts need a different language. Speak truth, but don’t let misunderstanding steal your joy.
