“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.”— Bible John 15:5
In the little town of Bethlehem , there was a tiny shop called“The Lord’s Garden Store.”
The sign outside said:
“No instant fruit sold here.”😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
I walked in confused.
“Excuse me,” I said to the angel behind the counter.“I came for peace. Maybe some patience too. Also… self-control before I text people emotionally.”🧐😉🤒🤕
The angel nodded seriously and disappeared into the back room.
A minute later, he returned holding… tiny seed packets.
I blinked.😵💫😵💫😵💫
“Wait. Where’s the actual fruit?”
The angel smiled.“These are the actual fruit.”🤩
At that moment, Jesus walked into the shop carrying a watering can and wearing gardening gloves.
One man in town complained loudly:
“Lord, I asked for patience LAST WEEK.”🤣
Jesus nodded.“And last week I sent you three difficult people to practice with.”🫠
The whole store became quiet.🤐🤐🤐
Another lady crossed her arms.“I asked for peace.”
Jesus smiled gently.“Yes… and I allowed life to slow down so you would learn to rest in Me instead of your schedule.”
Then I looked at my tiny seed packet.
“But Jesus… seeds take time.”😭
Jesus laughed softly.😄😃😆
“My child, everybody wants orchard results with microwave faith.”
The townspeople chuckled.
Then an old gardener sitting nearby spoke up:
“You don’t eat fruit the same day you plant seeds.”
Jesus pointed at him dramatically.“This man understands agriculture AND spiritual growth.”
Everyone laughed.
A young boy in the corner asked,“So how do the seeds grow?”
Jesus knelt beside him.
“You stay close to Me.Like branches connected to the vine. You water the seeds with prayer, truth, kindness, and obedience. And slowly… love begins to grow where anger used to live.” Then He looked at me.
“Sometimes people pray for joy while feeding sadness all day.Or pray for peace while watering fear every morning.”
I sighed.“Ouch.”
Jesus grinned.
“In the town of Between, growth happens between prayer and patience.”
Then the angel handed me another packet labeled:
“Trust God Even When You Don’t Understand.”
I looked horrified.
“Oh no. That one sounds expensive.”
Jesus laughed so hard He almost dropped the watering can.
Then He said softly:
“Do not be discouraged by slow growth.Even the strongest trees once looked like weak little seeds.”
Outside the shop, the people of Between walked home holding tiny seed packets close to their hearts.
Not one person left with instant fruit.
But everyone left with hope.
Lesson:The fruit of the Spirit does not appear overnight.God plants seeds in us and grows them through daily life, challenges, prayer, and staying connected to Jesus.Growth may feel slow, but healthy roots always grow before visible fruit.
