One afternoon, I sat with my friend at a coffee shop.
My friend rolled her eyes and said,Friend: “Mother’s Day? I don’t really care. Moms always complain anyway.”
I looked at her quietly.
Me: “Maybe… but my mom sacrificed so much for me. In our family, we were raised to care, call, visit, and honor our parents. Family matters.”
Suddenly, in my heart, I felt Jesus gently speaking.
Jesus: “My child, tell me… who stayed awake when you were sick?”
Me: “My mom.”
Jesus: “Who worried when you were late?”
Me: “My mom.”
Jesus: “Who prayed when no one saw?”
Tears filled my eyes.
Me: “My mom…”
My friend became quiet.
Friend: “I never thought of it like that. I just assumed moms are supposed to do these things.”
Jesus smiled gently.
Jesus: “Love should never be taken for granted. Even I honored My mother.”
Friend: “But Jesus… sometimes I get busy.”
Jesus: “Busy should never become an excuse for forgetting love. One day, you may wish for one more phone call, one more hug, one more meal at her table.”
I looked at my friend.
Me: “My mom is not perfect, but she is a gift. I don’t want to wait until regret teaches me love.”
Jesus looked at us both with kindness.
Jesus: “Honor your mother not only on one day… but with your heart, your words, your time, and your kindness.”
My friend wiped a tear.
Friend: “Maybe I should call my mom today.”
Jesus smiled.
Jesus: “That would make heaven smile too.”

Bible Exodus 20:12“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”
And when Jesus was on the cross, He cared for His mother:Bible John 19:26–27Jesus made sure Mary would be cared for.
🌷 Lesson
Do not take your mom for granted.Call her. Hug her. Appreciate her. Pray for her. Help her. Love her while you can. Mothers are not perfect, but many carry silent sacrifices we never see. The greatest gift is not flowers — it is love, respect, time, and gratitude.
🙏 Prayer
“Jesus, thank You for the gift of mothers. Help me honor, respect, and care for my mom with love and kindness. Teach me not to take her sacrifices for granted. Heal broken relationships and help us love like You love. Amen.”
