One afternoon my friend looked at me and sighed dramatically.
“I keep praying for a godly husband… but honestly, I don’t even know what being a godly wife looks like.”
I nodded slowly.
“Same.”
Suddenly the room became peaceful.
The Holy Spirit whispered gently:
“Everyone wants kingdom blessings… but few ask Me to shape their character first.”
My friend blinked.
“Ouch.”
I laughed nervously.
“Okay Holy Spirit… what does a godly woman look like?”
The Holy Spirit answered softly:
“A godly woman is not perfect. She is teachable. She learns to love with wisdom, not control. She brings peace, not constant chaos.”
My friend pointed at herself dramatically.
“So… yelling ‘I’m fine’ while slamming cabinets is not spiritual growth?”
I burst out laughing.
The Holy Spirit replied kindly:
“Peace is also fruit.”
I asked quietly,
“What else should we grow?”
The Holy Spirit smiled.
“Patience when life feels slow.Kindness when people are difficult.Self-control when emotions become loud.Wisdom to know when to speak and when to stay silent.”
My friend crossed her arms.
“This sounds hard.”
The Holy Spirit answered:
“Growth always is.”
Then He continued:
“A godly woman does not lose herself trying to be loved by people. She first learns she is already loved by God.”
I became quiet.
“So before becoming someone’s wife… we must first walk with God?”
“Yes,” the Holy Spirit said gently.“Marriage is not meant to complete you. God should already be your foundation.”
My friend suddenly gasped.
“Wait… so posting ‘future wifey vibes’ is not preparation?”
I laughed so hard I almost spilled my tea.
The Holy Spirit chuckled softly.
“Preparation happens in secret places — prayer, healing, forgiveness, humility, wisdom, and faithfulness.”
Then He looked at both of us lovingly.
“The most beautiful thing about a godly woman is not appearance. It is her heart becoming more like Christ.” We sat quietly for a moment.
Then my friend whispered,
“Okay Lord… less drama, more fruit.”
And honestly… that became our new prayer.
Lesson
A godly woman is not someone who pretends to be perfect. She is someone who allows God to shape her heart daily with love, wisdom, patience, kindness, and peace.
