I was sitting with my friends, sipping coffee, when suddenly everyone started complaining like it was a competition.
My friend Sara:“Ugh, I asked God for patience… and now my boss is testing me EVERY day!”
My friend Lina:“I asked for strength… and now everything in my life is heavy!”
Me:“I asked for wisdom… and now I feel like I’m in school again. Lord, where is the easy version??”
Then—like always—Jesus shows up (calm, smiling like He already knows the punchline).
Jesus:“So… you all want gifts without the training?”
Sara:“I mean… yes? Like Amazon Prime, same-day delivery?”
Jesus (laughing):“My dear, patience doesn’t grow in comfort—it grows in waiting.”
Lina:“And strength?”
Jesus:“Strength grows when you carry things, not when you avoid them.”
Me (crossing my arms):“And wisdom? Because honestly, I thought it was just… download and done.”
Jesus:“Wisdom comes when you listen, ask, fail, learn, and try again—with the Holy Spirit guiding you.”
My other friend jumps in:“Okay but what about when I asked for a car?”
Jesus:“You got driving lessons, didn’t you?”
We all went quiet.
Me:“…Wait. So when I asked for health—”
Jesus:“Yes. That’s why you suddenly felt guilty eating chips at midnight.”
Everyone bursts out laughing.
Sara:“So basically… God answers prayers—but with a process?”
Jesus (smiling):“Exactly. I give you the path, not just the prize.”
Me:“Lord… next time I pray, I’m going to be VERY specific.”
Jesus:“Oh, I’ll still train you.”
:“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously… and it will be given to you.” — James 1:5
Prayer:Lord, thank You that You answer my prayers—even when it comes with lessons I didn’t expect. Teach me to trust Your process, to grow through what I go through, and to listen to Your Spirit in every step. Give me patience to learn, strength to continue, and wisdom to understand Your ways. Amen.
