“A Lesson Written in Sore Hands and Tears”
“A Lesson Written in Sore Hands and Tears”
Yesterday, I thought I was only building something.
“Easy,” I told myself. “How hard can it be?”
I picked things up. I bent down. I carried. I pushed. I worked.
At first, I felt strong.
But slowly… my back started hurting.
My hands became sore.
My legs felt heavy.
By the end of the day, my whole body ached.
I sat down quietly.
I could barely move.
And suddenly… tears filled my eyes.
Not only because of the pain.
But because of the lesson.
I whispered softly,
“Jesus… is this how workers feel every day?”
The construction workers.
The people building roads.
The ones carrying heavy things.
The people who clean, lift, fix, and build homes while others pass by without noticing.
I felt so small.
Because I realized…
How many times did I see workers and never think about their pain?
How many times did I complain about little discomforts while someone else was carrying heavy burdens all day?
I sat there with my sore body and tears falling.
And in my heart, I felt Jesus gently speak:
“Now you understand a little more.”
I whispered back:
“Jesus, forgive me if I ever judged people or thought their work was easy.”
And I imagined Jesus sitting beside me in my tiredness, saying:
“Compassion grows when you feel what others carry.”
Then I started thinking…
The man building houses may go home with pain nobody sees.
The woman cleaning floors may smile while her back hurts.
The worker fixing roads under the hot sun may be exhausted while people complain about delays.
We see the finished house.
We drive on the street.
But we forget the tired hands that built them.
That night, I thanked God for every worker.
And through my pain, God gave me a beautiful lesson:
Never judge a struggle you have never carried.
Sometimes God allows us to feel a little pain… so our hearts become softer toward others.
Lesson
Before judging people, remember:you may not know how heavy their work, pain, or life truly is.
Pain can become a teacher.
And compassion grows when we stop and say:
“Maybe they are carrying more than I can see.”
Galatians 6:2“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Prayer
Jesus, forgive me for the times I judged without understanding. Thank You for teaching me through this lesson. Help me to see workers, tired people, and struggling hearts with compassion. Give strength to every person who works hard with sore hands and tired backs. Help me be kinder, more thankful, and more understanding. Amen.
