Resilient Food Systems Index
Portugal ranks 1st out of 60 countries on the Resilient Food Systems Index. Quality and Safety is its strongest pillar (79.23), driven by very strong dietary diversity and protein quality, alongside strong nutritional standards and high food safety performance. Food-system resilience could be further strengthened by improving performance on Climate Risk Responsiveness, the weakest pillar (69.41). In particular, the country should make progress on reducing physical risk exposure and further advancing mitigation and adaptation efforts. In 2nd and 3rd place are France and the UK.
