Music Festivals/Events
Oeiras has a free music festival every year. The 2025 edition started May 30th, and will last until June 15th. There are also mini-concerts for kids, taking place during the weekends. Most shows happen in Jardim Municipal de Oeiras, and a few at Parque Urbano de Miraflores. https://lisboasecreta.co/en/oeiras-festivities-2025/ There are also restaurants and food stands available.😋

Criminal facts in Portugal
Because there is crime in Portugal (it's not a paradise...), I'll place some ocasional news about the subject here. Seven people were convicted to prison (7Y9M to 16 years) for a total of 36 robberies. They robbed houses, with old folks inside, and businesses, perpetrated in the districts of Coimbra and Aveiro in early 2022.https://www.jn.pt/3644566357/sete-dos-15-arguidos-do-caso-teia-dourada-condenados-a-prisao/

Last month (21th March) there was a protest in Lisbon called "Marcha pela Vida" (March for Life), against abortion and euthanasia, involving some 500 people. When they were in front of the Parliament, a 39 yo man threw a Molotov cocktail against the protesters, including children, but it didn't explode. PSP detained him on the spot, and he was charged for possesion of a weapon. PJ's investigation lead to his arrest (again) Tuesday, now being charged of terrorism. This time, a judge placed him on pre-trial detention (jail). https://www.cmjornal.pt/portugal/detalhe/prisao-preventiva-para-suspeito-de-atirar-cocktail-molotov-na-marcha-pela-vida

Last Friday a 19yo entered a PSP police station in Leiria and, without warning, stabbed a 57 yo policeman, including in the neck. The suspect took off, but was captured 300 m away by other policemen. He was presented to a judge, that ordered his pre-trial detention. The attacked policeman was taken to hospital, but his life is not in danger. https://www.jn.pt/justica/artigo/jovem-esfaqueia-agente-em-esquadra-da-psp-em-leiria-pj-acionada/18074159 https://sicnoticias.pt/pais/2026-04-19-jovem-que-tera-esfaqueado-policia-em-esquadra-de-leiria-fica-em-prisao-preventiva-c5a840c0

Strikes
A general strike has been announced by the 2 union confederations (CGTP and UGT), and will take place next month (December), on the 11th. The government says there's no reason, as the new labor law hasn't been approved. The unions say they have to strike, because the government said they won't change their proposal.
