We are starting into the low light part of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. On November 1, Des Moines, Ia will get 10 hours and 22 minutes of daylight. The sun will be 33.7 degrees above the horizon. From Thanksgiving to Valentines day is considered to be the low light season in the United States.

This is a time when growth slows down and I focus on mini greens, salads, and mushrooms. Many plants might like extra light, but I tend to focus on what requires minimal fuss for the conditions.
