Squirrels
I had someone ask me how to keep squirrels out of Tiny Gardens. I did a bit of research. Here are the suggestions that I found: 1) Repellents containing cayenne, bitter tasting compounds, or predator urine. 2) Move bird feeders far away from the garden. 3) Create enclosures and barriers. 4) Keep tree trimmed to more than 6 feet away. 5) Clean up fallen fruits and nuts. Harvest vegetables and fruits promptly. 6) Plants squirrels don't like: daffodils, onion family, mint, hyacinth. 7) Things that move and change them often. 8) Deep prickly mulch. I don't have a serious squirrel problem. What have you tried?

Deer
A deer eat all my big cucumber leaves off my plant. The picture you see is before the deer eat it.The big leaves they eat but there are three small leaves still growing. Will the plant survive?

probably. Try to put a barrier between the plants and the deer. Some posts and Chicken wire, a medium to large dog cage. It doesn't look like it would take much where you have them. I think the deer nipped my tomatoes a couple of weeks ago. Most plants come back fine as long as there is active growth.

@Glenna James They should come back if they are protected.
Heatwave
Hello , Iโ€™ve been offline. Yesterday y til Sunday we have a heatwave here LI NY. Well I have a plot in a community garden because I have nowhere at home, anywho Iโ€™ve been sick the past couple of days I wasnโ€™t able to put up my tarp . This morning I went over and all my tomato plants were sunburned. I watered them and all my other veggies and put the tarp tent up. ๐Ÿคžthey will bounce back. On the plus side I had my grandbabies put seed starting soil in all the cells for our fall crops. Please all stay cool-warm and dry all. Happy 4 th weekend

@Merrie B I didn't and don't have the time either. There are other ways. The compost pile is usually the best and most effective way to turn organic matter into fertility, but... If it too much of a stretch, look into other ways. I use worm composting and mulch primarily.
