It wanted to ban social media for all under-16s. Around 67% of the public are giving W’s in the chat, but the law lowkey may NOT be dropping anytime soon 💀. The Senate is basically like "hold up gang, this ain’t main character energy" and wants to thoroughly vibe-check the bill. They’re especially concerned about how the bill plans to protect Canadians’ biometrics and private data from getting leaked or breached by tech companies 💀. While the bill will probably pass, tech companies are likely gonna TWEAK OUT and start pushing back against the government 😭🙏. While the idea is cooking, kids ain’t delulu 💀. They know how to navigate the internet WAY better than the uncs in charge. To actually enforce this rule, the government would probably need to create an age-verification system or something similar using biometric data.
