Experiment #1 Update 6
Day 9 of getting to 100 members. We're at 41. 🎉
Results since the last update:
→ Meta ad: NZ$11.87 spent over 4 days. 9,110 views, 132 link clicks, 105 landing page views. Zero confirmed members from it so far. The reach is there, the clicks are there, the conversions aren't -(yet?). Its still running so lets see...
→ Added the "Where did you hear about us?" question: this has been useful. Since I added it, everyone who's joined has come from the bundle or my own email list. Which tells me my existing audience is engaging but the cold traffic from ads isn't converting yet.
→ Emailed 264 non-bundle subscribers: I mentioned my free skool group in the From 9-to-5 Bundle but hadn't emailed my whole list about it so emailed just those existing subscribers who didn't opt into the Bundle as they wouldn't know about it: 59 opened (22% open rate), 6 clicked, 2 joined AND 2 unsubscribed 🤣. I'll be honest, that felt low BUT, then I thought about. These are people who never signed up for the From Job to CEO bundle, so they're a less warm audience for this specific community. 2 from 6 clicks is actually a 33% conversion from click to join - the open rate is the problem, not the landing. I probably have to do it again (not yet!).
→ Other Skool networks: slow burn but it's moving. I am not as worried about this one, I'm not going to do some hard sell on my group, while I am running an experiment to get to 100 members in 30 days, the point is more to remind me to keep building and growing not to get numbers. I want people here who want to be here and engage so I'm ok 😂.
Discovery rank has gone from 4075 on day 6 to 3119 today. That's 956 places in 3 days.
→ New experiment: Skool keywords - Skool is now going to function as a search engine and you get 11 keywords on Skool 🥳 So I've gone all in 😂 Here's what I've put:
side hustle, quit 9 to 5, solopreneur, build business, online business, career change, entrepreneur, leave my job, business owner, make money, job to CEO
I'm genuinely excited to see what this does to my profile visitors and discovery rank over the next two weeks. This might be the thing that starts bringing in cold traffic organically without spending a cent on ads (yeah, that sounds amazing but lets see...) I'll report back.
Current stats: Members: 41 | Discovery rank: 3,119 | Engagement: 73% | Days left: 21 | Still needed: 59
Honest reflection:
The ad isn't converting cold traffic yet. The network engagement is working but slowly. The bundle audience was always the warmest and I can't keep emailing that group about skool as they just had a week of it so and they've largely already joined or decided not to.
Here's what I keep coming back to though: 73% engagement on 41 members is good. I'd rather have 41 people who actually show up than 100 who joined and disappeared. Good things take time and I want to build something real.
What's next: Keep showing up in Skool communities. Let the ad run its course and report back. Email my WHOLE list in a few days with a different angle. And watch whether the keyword change moves anything.
