We talk a lot about replacing unproductive habits with powerful, productive ones—it’s a core pillar of the dopamine detox. But there’s something just as important that often gets overlooked: rest and recovery.
Here’s the truth: Burnout is one of the biggest reasons people fall back into old habits like binge eating, doom scrolling, or endless Netflix marathons. Why does this happen? Because we spend so much time grinding and pushing ourselves that we forget to take care of our mental and emotional well-being.
Rest isn’t a reward—it’s a requirement.
One of my favorite ways to unwind is practicing martial arts 🥋. There’s something incredibly freeing about stepping into a boxing session and letting the stress of the day melt away. After each session, I feel a wave of euphoria—a clear sign of my dopamine system working naturally and healthily.
Unwinding like this isn’t just relaxing; it helps reset your brain and keeps you from falling into the trap of unhealthy dopamine spikes.
