June 28th Class video
Will the class on the 28th be uploaded? I attended, but I was hoping to review again-- lots of info so was tough to keep up.
The Online Class Video from last week and a substantial change.
Hey folks, I've been super busy, so I haven't had a chance to post last week's online class video. I will, and soon. On another front, I have been thinking about discontinuing the so-called "Freemium" thing with Skool. We now have nearly 100 members but only a handful of members have upgraded. The online group class has had only a few attendees, making it tough to ask my own students to make time for it. I still think it could work but right now, there seems to be zero motivation for people to upgrade. From my perspective, I would like to commit enough time each week to not only have more online classes but also to fill up a library of lessons that members can access. But I'm not interested in doing that for free. This is how I make my living... The 4th of July is coming – the 250th birthday of our nation . I remember the 200th back in 1976. It was great. Anyway... should be a relatively easy date to remember. On July 1st, I will end the whole freemium thing and switch to a paid-only model. And on July 4th, I will remove any community member who has not upgraded If it turns out that basically no one upgrades, that's fine. I'll gradually wind things down with the community aspect and leave it in place as a portal for my courses. And for those members who have paid in advance for a year, we'll arrange private lessons to compensate you for your much-appreciated support. If you want this thing to work, speak up! Talk to each other. Get more members to upgrade. It's only $37 a month. If we can get two thirds or more of the current free-tier members to upgrade, I can dedicate time to online classes and recording lessons and make it worth everyone's support. It's up to you.
A worker is worth his wages
Hello fellow members. I hope this message finds you well and that it challenges you. We started having Wednesday online classes about a month ago and it’s been a blast, intellectually stimulating, and thought provoking. I was noticing how many members are in the Skool platform and I believe I saw about 99 members. I read that some are students and some are instructors in other FMA styles, if you will. That tells me that you saw something here that you did not see elsewhere where, otherwise why join the group. Those who teach, I am sure charge a tuition or fee, given that it may be their bread and butter. If that be so, then why not do what we require our students to do, pay a fee for the time, skill, and dedication to the art and students? It’s not right for us to want to receive and not give back. “A worker is worth his wages.” I say this because out of the 99 members, only 6 or so of us have joined the premium tier and we are the ones who attend the online weekly classes. The fee is quite reasonable, $37 a month to attend the online class and $99 for VIP to be able to attend the class and have access to the growing library of classes. We’ve all seen what Guro Mark is able to do. He has a love for the art and science of FMA, for teaching , and his students. If you cannot attend his classes in person the next best thing is to be able to attend his live online classes. With all that said, if you are on the fence, I ask you, “Why?” If it is related to finances, cut back on the energy drinks or the Starbucks for one week and you will have your basic tuition covered. Again, you know what he offers so why not show you truly value the art, the science, the culture, and respect the man enough not to expect simply to get things for free, but to pay for his time and expertise. We all know that we pay for what we value. Naturally, two questions follow from this: one, do you value Guro Mark and the wealth of knowledge he brings to the table? Two, do you want to stay stuck in the classical mess or continue to learn and grow in the art that we all love?
