Thinking of you guys during my vacay <3
I was traveling these past 5 days with my family and I came across this sign in a restaurant that made me think of you guys. It reads: "dreamers and doers" Well put, if you ask me :) In the world of personal finance influencers and mantras, often you'll get content that is extremely overcompensated towards one side or the other. The "dreamer" side of personal finance likes to overpromise and underdeliver, encouraging yolo investment decisions and lifestyle choices, wishing that money will just show up in their mailbox to bail them out or that a high paying job would call them up out of the blue to hire them. Influencers make themselves out to be gurus with the 'secrets' to your success - but of course, those secrets are always kept behind a pay wall behind another pay wall behind another pay wall, until you either run out of money or hope - whichever comes first. To be a 100% DREAMER is perhaps a suitable coping mechanism for pain, but it is not a viable path to freedom or wellness. The "doer" side, on the other hand, likes to feast on your insecurity and self-loathing by bullying you into more and more action without giving respect to your happiness or taking a moment to zoom out and consider if there is a more strategic and balanced path towards your goals. It's all work, work, work, work. Who cares about the results? Who cares if you're happy? Who cares if you lose your friends? You just have to keep doing more, simply because the doer influencer said so π
And again, if that's your way to cope with pain (as we all suffer in innumerable ways in this life), I cannot fault you. But be forewarned, to be a 100% DOER is by no means a more viable path to freedom or wellness. Where does that leave us? Hmm.. .. If only you could be a dreamer AND a doer .. π To be one who consistently taps into your heart, listens to your emotions, follows your gut, lives for what you believe in ... and then activates your dreams into meaningful, substantive, consistent choices.
