Govt run by AI ?
The UAE is moving toward govt being run by AI. Article below. What do you guys think? Is this a good direction to head? Will we be moving toward a world govt run by AI, like in the popular sci - fi series The Culture? Will AI do a better job at running govt than humans? Or will bias and flaws in AI lead countries down a dangerous path ? On Thursday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced that in two years, 50% of UAE's government sectors, services, and operations will run on Agentic AI The new "government model" was launched under the directive of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It will make the UAE the first government globally to operate at this scale through autonomous systems. "AI is no longer a tool. It analyses, decides, executes, and improves in real time. It will become our executive partner to enhance services, accelerate decisions, and raise efficiency," the Dubai Ruler said in a post on X. "This transformation has a clear timeline. Two years. Performance across government will be measured by speed of adoption, quality of implementation, and mastery of AI in redesigning government work," he continued. "We are investing in our people. Every federal employee will be trained to master AI, building one of the world’s strongest capabilities in AI-driven government. Implementation will be overseen by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, with a dedicated taskforce chaired by Mohammad Al Gergawi driving execution. "The world is changing. Technology is accelerating. Our principle remains constant. People come first. Our goal is a government that is faster, more responsive, and more impactful," Sheikh Mohammed added. https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/uae-move-50-government-services-ai-2028

Canada cash restricted
Canada is tightening the noose around cash and financial privacy. This is no longer just about banks reporting $10K+ cash transactions. Bill C-2 keeps the door open to making it illegal to accept $10,000 or more in cash. That would shift Canada from “reporting cash” to criminalizing cash. At the same time, the surveillance side is expanding. Banks can now share flagged financial information with other banks and law enforcement without you being notified. That means your bank, lender, credit card company, and police could potentially be looped in before you even know there’s an issue. More businesses are also being pulled into FINTRAC reporting rules, including check cashers, private ATM operators, leasing companies, and factoring companies. Crypto is being tracked more closely too, with identity-linked transaction reporting headed to the CRA. The message is clear: Cash is being treated as suspicious. Will they eliminate cash eventually ?
