FREE SHIPPING AND WHY IT'S BAD FOR NEW SELLERS
If you are new or still working towards consistent sales then I highly recommend charging for shipping and here's why...
When you offer free shipping, it seems like on the surface that it's a benefit to the customer, but you have to incorporate that shipping charge into your price. When you do this as a new seller with little to no reviews and sales, you show up as a higher price than your top competitors and this is the exact opposite of what you want.
As a new seller you are trying to increase your shop ranking to be shown more and every sale you get helps. When your price is higher, you lose sales as customers are always going to choose the competitor with lower prices and tons of sales and reviews, and your conversion rate is something that Etsy takes into account.
Truthfully, customers on Etsy do not mind paying for shipping and in almost 7 years, I have never had anyone complain and in fact I have had many times where a buyer from another country purchases something and the shipping actually costs more than the product itself.
