IS....bureaucracy! Here is a list of all the licenses and permits we hold to function as a brewery business.
Local
  • Alcohol license with county
  • Alcohol license with city
  • Special events: must obtain special permits from jurisdiction event takes place within (city if within city limits, county if outside city limits)
State
  • Retail license
  • Wholesale license
  • Optional food: Food Permit for each location 
  • State dependent: Beer tax bond AND Wine tax bond for beer over 5%
  • State tax licensing= Seller’s permit, Beer tax permit, Wine tax permit (Idaho), Withholding tax permit
  • Register
Federal
  • Register as a Federal FDA food processing facility. Must appoint ServSafe Manager to obtain food handlers permit
  • Obtain EIN
  • Register with the Department of the Treasury Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB)  Will receive a Brewer’s Notice
Hiring Employees
  • Obtain Worker’s Comp Insurance Policy 
  • Report new hires to your state
