Warning note: This post refers to gender-based violence, suicide, grief, and depression. If today feels heavy, please read gently and reach out to someone safe for support. This morning I sobbed grief-stricken tears of helplessness, sadness, and rage. I cried for the children, partners, sisters, friends, and mothers of the women who were brutally murdered recently in South Africa. Women like you and me, simply living their lives. But that moment also reminded me why my work matters: we need each other, and we need language, tools, skills, and support to challenge the beliefs that keep us trapped in struggle. After a while, I dried my tears and came back to the S4 system: the framework I developed to liberate people from survival mode into hope, relief, self-trust, and inner power and freedom. The first S stands for Survival. It names the state many of us learned in broken childhoods, dysfunctional homes, and unsafe relationships- the state where we start believing the lie that we are innately flawed. My heart breaks for those who never got to experience the rest of the S4 model: Self-awareness, Safety, and Soaring. Relief often sits on the other side of these beliefs that keep us trapped: the belief that we must work overtime to prove we deserve safety, success, belonging, or love. Survival mode convinces us to keep pushing and performing. Safety invites us to stop proving and start returning to our essence. My prayer is that we get to live from love, awe, inspiration, and unwavering self-belief, instead of fear, proving, or survival. Life is short. Please do not let old beliefs, old pain, or old excuses keep you from the life you are here to live. In the EACP Masterclass, we unpack the three hidden beliefs that keep you stuck in survival mode and trapped in self-doubt and victimhood, and begin the work of replacing them with truth, innate safety, and authentic self-belief https://nurturing-growth.co.za/masterclass/register
