Hello
I have been a member of Akron's Dragon Dream Team (BCS) since 2018. I began steering in 2019 on a casual basis to fill in when needed. Additionally, I have taken a few in person steering clinics starting with my own coach, then one in Marietta, Ohio and another in Cleveland, Ohio. I was asked in 2025 and 2026 to coach a local community team that bought a 10 seater dragon boat because they wanted to become more competitive in my team's annual dragon boat festival. I love coaching them and would like to extend my coaching to my BCS team. We have the very good fortune of having a large chain of lakes that both my community and BCS teams practice on. This provides variety to our practices while also allowing us to challenge ourselves to rougher water by entering speed zones where wake is created. My BCS team has three 20 seater boats and one 10 seater. Each boat steers in subtly different ways. We have 2 steerers who are dedicated solely to steering. I personally am more of a paddler than a steerer, but enjoy steering when the team needs me to.
