The true treasure was the friends we made along the way.
But jokes aside, I do have a story with a winding plot line that merges fitness and surprising music to tell you guys
I was shopping for baking goods at a local wholesale club when I saw a familiar face. I recognized the person being somebody who I saw at least twice in the local gym.
Of course there were many people, but for two times in a row, he was performing deadlifts on the platform next to me while I worked on Olympic lifts.
As I walked down the aisle in the wholesale club, I said hi and asked him if he went to the same gym. And the adventure for Anthony began!
It turned out that he had been interested in Olympic lifting after watching me perform it. He didn't want to disturb me. So he watched tutorials. But postponed learning. He thought it looked too advanced. And he wouldn't want to practice with bad technique by himself. Plus he didn't trust videos online because he knew, people have different proportions of bodies. What worked for others might not work for him.
I gladly took on the challenge to teach him the basics and coach him through progressions that broke down the complex movements of Olympic lifting.
And he has been a quick learner. Despite being sick, with his throat congested, making it hard for him to breathe, he stayed focused during the two sessions where I taught him the basics of power clean and power snatch. And he successfully completed the training sessions with breakthroughs.
Today he shared with me that he plays guitar and showed me his recordings. It sounded professional! It's so cool that in this community about physical training and philosophy, somehow everybody has a deep connection with practicing music in some way!
Why do you guys think it's this way? I think it deserves my attention and reflection. And I will make a separate post about it soon.
Again, welcome, Anthony, my friend!
Please feel free to introduce yourself!
I already know you are an incredibly avid pickleball player who normally plays for 2+ hours straight, if not all the way to 4 hours. How did you get into pickleball? Did you play tennis before? Have you entered a pickleball tournament? What do you like most about pickleball?
And how many hours per week do you devote to playing guitar? You said you write music for others. Are you still writing? How do you get inspiration for writing music?
I'm so glad to have you here!
