Daylight length and gender ratio of kits?
Hi :) In your experience, does day length have any effect on the ratio of male:female kits? We raise rabbits indoor for bio/physical security reasons, and we've always had the standard ratio of boys to girls. Last year we didn't notice a timer had malfunctioned, and the rabbitry ended up in 24/7 lighting for about 2 weeks. We ended up with around 3 bucks out of those 2 litters. Yeah... Wow! Since then we've kept them at around 17/7 in lighting, and we're still getting higher rates of doe. Have you seen this before? I've read studies on the average doe ratio going up when there is plenty of feed available, but nothing on lighting.
