Why intentions Matter More Than You Think
Every action is judged by its intention.
If you want Barakah in your marriage, career, or children, then turn your daily activities into acts of worship by making the heartfelt desire that you are doing those actions for Allah.
Iman Al-Haddad said: “Utter no word, do no action , and decide no matter without the intention of drawing nearer thereby to Allah…”
The messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “He who intends to do a good deed, but he does not do it, then Allah records it for him as a full good deed, but if he carries of his intention then Allah the Exalted, writes it down for him as from ten to seven hundred folds, and even more. But if he intends to do an evil act and has not done it, then Allah writes for him a good deed, but if he intends it and has done it, Allah writes it down as one bad deed.”
Why does Allah reward all three? First off, every intention in the above scenarios is a sincere intention, meaning the person firmly resolves to do something. These are not wishful thinking intentions
Secondly ,if someone has a habit of resolving to do something and they fail at it - either because they lacked determination or they were unable to - the fact remains that this is a person that who is trying to do good. Usually , it’s only a matter of time before this person acts on their good intentions. Similarly, If someone resolves to do bad and then decided against it, or is unable to act on it , Allah rewards him depending on what stops him.If it’s fear of Allah , then that’s a sign that his heart is purer than the inclinations of his self. And if circumstances simply didn’t add up ,the realisation that the sin would’ve caused serious harm will deter him from having such intentions in the future.
Thirdly, sometimes, you want to achieve something sincerely for Allah , but the life circumstances get in the way. Instead of giving up hope, you’re encouraged to make sincere intention anyway.This is not about wishful thinking.this is about people who are constantly thinking of how to please Allah, and sometimes all a person has is sincere intentions given there circumstances.
