I just added another new module to the classroom, all about how to identify quality bagged compost!
Since most bags look essentially the same on the outside and use a lot of the same marketing terms, it's 𝘸𝘢𝘢𝘢𝘺𝘺𝘺 too easy to end up buying a "compost" that's basically glorified dirt.
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻:
- What ingredients you actually want to see on the label (and the wording that should make you put the bag back)
- The "heft test" you can do right in the store
- What certifications to look for and what they actually mean. The US, Canada, UK, and Australia are all covered, but let me know if you want the details for another country/region, and I'll get it added!
Now you can stand in the compost aisle squeezing and reading bags like a weirdo just like me 😜
And thank you to Academy Member @Dianna Doblosky for the awesome follow-up question on the Soil Prep & Amending Basics module that inspired this one!
