Ingredient Myth Buster
“Natural” doesn’t always mean “safe for everyone.”
For example:
• Essential oils are natural, but overuse can irritate or damage the skin barrier
• Coconut oil works for some, but can be comedogenic or feel drying for others
• Fresh aloe vera gel is soothing, but spoils quickly and may cause reactions which is why preserved aloe vera gel is usually safer for regular DIY skincare use
👉 What makes a product skin-friendly isn’t whether it’s “fresh” or “natural”
It’s about formulation, stability, and skin condition.
In DIY beauty, less is more:
  • Short ingredient lists
  • Gentle, well-balanced formulas
  • Ingredients chosen with intention, not trends😉
It’s always good to practice a skin patch test before using any new ingredient or product, even if it’s natural, to ensure your skin isn’t allergic or sensitive to it.
