Recording Masterclass 3: "The art of Story Hunting"
Check out the recording about: "The art of Story Hunting abroad" - Pre-trip research - Story Hunting abroad - Travel reportage lead writing - Pitching to magazines
Important: NatGeo USA Digital Pitch Guide
I was lucky to get an invitation for a meeting from TravMedia with NatGEO editors that publish stories for the National Geographic website, and social media channels. Because of the upcoming AI the editors like to receive authentic stories from the first person narrative. How do you stand out during your pitch? First subject line is the most important to catch the attention. They need to understand if you are a professional, past publications, your expertise, actual news, and unique story angle. Try to build a relationship by meeting with the editors for a virtual cup of coffee. Here you can find the email addresses where you can pitch. Stories about travel food destinations/culinary experiences abroad: [email protected] Stories about destination guides, and especially national parks: [email protected] *It's recommended to have experience with other travel media publications or a very unique story.

Powerpoint Masterclass 3: "The art of story hunting"
Homework: Write a lead of a travel reportage! Example: "The Grey Giants of Sri Lanka" Suddenly big grey ears appear from behind a tree. The Sri Lankan Giant looks me in the eyes. “Welcome to the Udawalawe National Park”, says the tour guide with a smile. I hold my breath while taking a picture of the elephant. You can upload it here inside the portal so I can give you feedback. :)

Homework lesson 3: Write a lead for your travel reportage!
Title............................ Lead: 3-5 sentences to catch attention............................. .............................................................................................. .............................................................................................. .............................................................................................. Very good example of Melody from previous lesson: Kumusha Resort in Goromonzi - Zimbabwe The sound of drums was music to my ears. The ladies were dancing in traditional attire. There was the aroma of the pumpkin leaves from the thatched kitchen. All was bright at the Kumusha Resort in Goromonzi, Zimbabwe. *You can publish it inside the portal.
