There is always something new to learn...

A few months ago, I wouldn't have been able to do what I'm doing today.

One of the biggest leaps on my YouTube journey came when I finally figured out how to record audio that felt good enough. I say "good enough" because there is always room to improve. Better equipment, better techniques, and another lesson waiting around the corner.

Today's lesson? I discovered two little boxes in YouTube Studio that I'd never unticked before.

No, YouTube... I don't want you to "enhance" my audio or video. 😄

I spend hours in GarageBand shaping the sound of every instrument so the drum, didgeridoo, rattles, and rainstick blend exactly the way I intend. Finding those settings was a little frustrating, but also strangely satisfying. I'm looking forward to hearing the difference in my next upload.

At the moment, I'm recording with a TASCAM Portacapture X8. It captures the drum, rattles, rainstick, and the rest of my instruments beautifully. I'm also using one of its XLR inputs with a dedicated vocal microphone just for the didgeridoo, which gives me much more control during editing.
