When I was a kid, I loved those Chinese finger traps. Funny thing about them: the harder you pulled, the tighter they got. The only way out was counterintuitiveārelax, lean in, and suddenly the trap would let go.
Thatās exactly how training and life work too.
Pushing harder doesnāt always fix it. Sometimes, it just makes the stuckness worse.
Iāve noticed it in my dancing: when I soften into the problem instead of fighting it, I find freedom faster.
⨠Practice This
Next time youāre stuck in choreo, or struggling to nail a drill, pause.
Breathe.
Lean into it. Trust yourself.
šš¾ And if you want to go even deeper, this is the type of breakthrough that happens fast in private sessions. Sometimes an outside eye helps you see where youāre pulling too hard. Message me if youāre ready to explore that.
Question for you: Where do you feel yourself gripping too tight right nowāin class, in practice, or outside the studio?
