Thumbnails - the beginner questions I keep hearing...🤔
"Should I be IN my thumbnail?"
"How many words is too many?"
"Where do I even put myself in the frame?"
Here's what the data actually shows:
**Your Face:** Yes, include it (if you're comfortable). Faces with emotion (curiosity, surprise, joy) get 30%+ more clicks. Position yourself left or right third, not dead centre.
**Text:** 0-3 words MAX. Think "hook" not "explanation."
- ❌ "How To Make Money With YouTube Thumbnails"
- ✅ "This Changed Everything"
**Composition:** 3 elements total - your face + object/visual + short text. More = clutter = scroll past.
The formula: Emotional face (left/right) + curious text (3 words) + contrasting background = thumbnail that works.
Not perfect. Just effective.
