Skool has shared that communities will now be penalized for having any links on their About page. Meaning less visibility hurting your Discover score too!
So if you’ve added links to your website, social media, lead magnets, booking calendar, or anywhere else, I’d recommend removing them.
(This is ONLY for the about page NOT the pro account plug in links 🔗)
But here’s the bigger lesson…
This isn’t just about Skool.
One of the biggest goals of almost every platform is to keep people on their platform for as long as possible.
Facebook does it.
Instagram does it.
YouTube does it.
And now Skool is making that expectation even clearer.
The good news?
The About pages that convert the best usually don’t need links anyway.
Your About page has one job…
Get the right person to click Join.
The best About pages are simple and answer just three questions
✅ Who is this community for?
✅ What will I get when I join?
✅ Why should I join this community?
That’s it.
No giant wall of text.
Not About how awesome YOU are, or alll your 1000 credentials.
No sending people somewhere else before they’ve even joined.
No overwhelming them with a dozen different options.
The simpler you make the decision, the more likely people are to join.
Sometimes removing things actually increases conversions.
Community owners let’s practice.
In the comments let us know in just a few sentences who your community is for. What they get. Why should someone join. Then add your link 🔗
