George Michael’s Freedom

I was listening to this song this morning and it dawned on me that maybe the song is not about what I once thought. I always thought it was about his breaking away from the music industry because they wanted him to be a certain personality and image that he wasn’t authentically. For some reason this morning while I was listening to it, it struck me that maybe it was about breaking free from whatever contract he made when he sold his soul to become famous. Maybe he regretted it and had no idea what he was getting into. I was just curious what other people think. Maybe I’m way off base but with all the things I’ve learned the last few years my mind now looks at and listens to things differently.
