And this Ladies and Gentlemen is why we need more affordable housing units in this country. You see this? This person is going through a transition in life so limited on clean, safe, and affordable housing options. He’s currently staying at an Extended Stay and paying $390.00 per week! 🤯 That’s $1560.00 per month for a room. The most they would pay for one of my rooms is $275.00 per week and that includes utilities, free parking and free laundry onsite. Someone DMed me this post. One thing you quickly learn in the room rental business is that every tenant type comes with its own pros and cons. Working-Class Professionals – Reliable tenants with steady income and predictable routines. They value affordability and convenient locations. Traveling Nurses and Medical Staff – Short-term, high-paying renters who prefer furnished, quiet spaces near hospitals and flexible lease options. Elderly Tenants – Consistent and peaceful tenants who appreciate affordable rent and accessible features like single-level homes or grab bars. Formerly Incarcerated Tenants – Often overlooked but grateful for second chances. With structure and clear rules, they can become loyal long-term renters. Registered Sex Offenders – A specialized group with limited housing options. Only consider if your property meets all legal requirements and you’re prepared to manage carefully. Transitioning Tenants (Divorcees, Job Relocators, Students) – Usually short-term but low-maintenance if move-in is simple and communication is clear.
