Full piano improvisation using the COPET Method
Hey family! I want to share a piano improvisation that I made to depict the grieving process I’m going through after my granny died back in February. It’s been tough but music has helped me tremendously. Enjoy! Also please post yall own recordings as well so that other people in the community can engage with you. Here is the link to my improvisation. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8Uw1GMT/
I’m Back!
Hello everyone! Sorry for my absence. I’ve been sick and not playing too much. However, I wanted to check in and show you all what I’m working on. This is Sonata K. 208 by Scarlatti. I just started learning it yesterday. Here are the first 8 measures. @Cliff Jones I’ve watching some of these videos and man you are a genius!!

Assessing my own piano octave technique
Hey family! Happy Thursday. The following video is me playing octaves from two of my favorite pieces by Franz Liszt:The Mazeppa, and the Sonata in b minor. This video is from a few years ago and one thing I want you to take note of is how I’m using my fourth and fifth fingers to play the octaves instead of just using fifth finger. This allows my octaves to be faster and causes no tension in the hand. Another thing to pay attention to is how loose the arms are which is the key to speed and fluidity. How good are your octaves?

I used the COPET Method to compose this…
Family! I used the COPET method to compose my version of Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song. Christmas is my favorite holiday and as I was listening to The Christmas Song I felt emotions of nostalgia, coziness, and happiness. So I went to my piano, used these same emotions, tied it to a true story of what Christmas meant for me as a kid, and went to work. Enjoy! I want you all to do the same, it doesn’t have to be a Christmas song, but compose something small, or play a piece from your repertoire that reminds you of Christmas. Record it, and post it in this thread!
