What is Cannabinoid hyperemesis Syndrome?
Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) is a clinical condition where chronic cannabis use causes cyclical, severe vomiting. While THC usually relieves nausea, long-term overstimulation desensitizes CB1 receptors in the brain and gut. This "system overload" disrupts the digestive tract and the body's ability to regulate temperature and nausea. It also affects TRPV1 receptors, which is why hot showers provide temporary relief. The only cure is cessation, allowing the system to reset to baseline.
