A fulcrum is the pivot point of a lever — the spot where the lever turns.
In the human body, joints (like your elbow, knee, or shoulder) act as fulcrums.
When you lift a weight, your body acts like a system of levers:
Bones = the levers
Joints = the fulcrums (pivot points)
Muscles = the force that moves the lever
Weight (load) = the resistance you’re lifting
Example: Bicep Curl
Fulcrum: Elbow joint
Lever: Forearm
Load: Dumbbell in your hand
Effort: Biceps pulling on the forearm
When the biceps contract, they pull on the bone, rotating it around the elbow (fulcrum) to lift the weight.
